Hello and welcome to my contemporary art website. I am Joanne Coughlin, and I am a contemporary artist working and living in the beautiful Ottawa Valley, in Ontario, Canada.
My artist statement is simple. I love to create, I love colour and I love the beauty of nature. I paint mostly in acrylic and love the flow of some of the new paints. I am continually inspired by the ever changing seasons and the colours they present.
I love art that implies movement and although abstract in style at least one of natures four elements usually comes through in my work. I love mixing bright colours with muted colours and my art often combines a cool and warm palette. Essentially I love to create art that lights up a neutrally decorated space.
In terms of process, I let my mood guide me when I start a new piece, I guess that means I am an intuitive painter. I have a couple of collections that emerged over the last couple of years; AMAZING POSSIBILITIES and DOODLE DANDIES.
